In honor of Darlington's 105th anniversary, nine alumni have issued an Annual Fund challenge to fellow alumni who have never given, or who have not given in the past couple of years.

"We are proud of these nine alumni leaders for again stepping up to the plate for Darlington and backing this Annual Fund challenge," said Jason Turner, director of annual giving. "Their goal is to raise 250 new Annual Fund donors in just 105 days. If and when they meet their deadline, they have collectively pledged to donate $105,000 for the Annual Fund."

Alumni endorsing the challenge include John Thatcher ('44), Billy Mitchell ('58), Roby Robinson ('58), Billy Kelly ('71), Bob Hortman ('72), Mary Helen (Wright) Heaner ('77), Andrew Heaner ('77), Linda (Grizzard) Owens ('79) and Kevin Evans ('87).

The deadline for participating in the Annual Fund alumni challenge is Nov. 13, 105 days from the Aug. 1 kickoff. Though a gift of any size will qualify, alumni who have not recently given are asked to make a gift of $105 in honor of Darlington's 105th year. Click here to accept the challenge, make your gift online and be part of something great.

"The experiences we have all shared at Darlington have made us who were are today," said Hortman, who is also a past chairman of the Annual Fund Leadership Team. "The same will be true for the current generation of students. As alumni, it is our duty to give back to this special place that gave us so much. It is also our responsibility to show the students, parents and faculty of today that we support them."
