In this #SeniorSpotlight get to know Alex Austin, a four-year day student from Rome, Ga., who is a three-sport athlete as well as a musician.
When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?
"Thunderstruck" by AC/DC
What's your favorite show to binge on Netflix?
“The Walking Dead”
What house are you a member of?
Moser House
What are you involved in at Darlington?
Cross country, swimming, track, Model UN, Spanish Club, Choir
If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Mr. Cox. He is a father like figure that always is there to give me advice for personal progression.
If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
Piano - the sheer amount of combinations in melodies.
What's your favorite place on campus and why?
Mrs. Holst's counseling office because it’s a fun place to rest, talk and complete homework.
Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Cox because of what I said above. Also, Mr. Allen because he gives feedback and tells great stories, and Ms. Heflin because she has been there for me to relate in daily struggles.
What's your favorite thing about Darlington?
The faculty. Each individual faculty member has their own diverse personality and doesn't feel like a carbon-copy robot.
Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
A long walk from the Huffman Center parking lot to be late to my first period class.
What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I have matured to be able to handle mental stress and develop coping mechanisms.
Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
University of San Francisco, neurologist
