My name is Caroline Brewster and I am part of the Senior Ventures program at Darlington. The name of my project is "Little Athletes." I've always been interested in athletics and I have noticed there is a gap between the Upper School and our younger athletes. In my project, I will seek to foster relationships through athletics and close that gap.
To do this, I will pair up athletes of different ages and empower them to encourage each other during their sports on and off of the field. Darlington's first- and second-grade classes recently supported the Upper School softball team by sending the team members letters of encouragement and making signs and banners to hang at the softball field. I hope that these partnerships will allow athletes of all ages to have fun and build friendships. I would also like to promote attendance at each other's sporting events to have exciting seasons. I’m looking forward to interacting with these athletes and exploring other options that foster relationships.
My Darlington mentor is Mr. McConnell. He was my third-grade teacher, and he is passionate about sports and encouraging our students to support one another in their athletic adventures.
