The first-graders celebrated National Talk Like a Pirate Day by enjoying a day of pirate fun! Everyone came to school dressed in pirate attire, including scarves, hats and hooks. We came up with pirate names, played pirate ring toss, and had a "battle" using homemade marshmallow cannons. The Peer Pirates also "dug" for sight words in a pirate chest full of sand. We ended the day making pirate instruments: harmonicas made from paper, popsicle sticks and straws. It was a fantastic day as a Peer Pirate.
