Welcome to Episode 96 of The Darlington Podcast!
In this episode, Chief Advancement Officer Julie Lucas ('97) chats with Karley ('16) and Seth ('16) Parker in celebration of Valentine's Day. The Parkers share their own love story that began in Mr. Hudson's freshman chemistry class, and then they read submissions from other Darlington alumni who are also married to Darlington alumni. It's a sweet celebration of love by the Lakeside!
Julie Lucas joined Darlington's Advancement Office in 2007 and was named chief advancement officer in 2016. Previously, she has served as director of development, director of giving programs and campaign director for Darlington's Second Century Campaign. Julie holds a B.A. in Communication from Loyola University New Orleans.
Karley (Smallwood) Parker was a 14-year day student from Rome. At Darlington, she was on the lacrosse and softball teams, and was involved in the field and stream club. After Darlington, she attended Auburn University, where she graduated in 2020 with a degree in communication and a minor in business. She currently serves as the director of membership at the Rome Floyd Chamber.
Seth Parker was a seven-year day student from Rome. At Darlington, he was involved in the Soccer Academy. He is a 2021 graduate of Auburn University with a degree in building science. Since graduation, he has worked at Parker Systems in a variety of roles supporting the business's work.
Every member of the Darlington Community has countless Darlington connections, especially in the work world. By supporting each other's careers and life goals, we are better connecting our students, alumni, parents, parents of alumni, and grandparents.
