Senior Ventures Spotlight: Elsa Quay Corbin

Currently, I own a business called Art By EQ. My art is sold in two stores on Broad Street in Rome, and I donate a percentage of the sales to The Open Door Home. I have also hosted kids' painting parties at local churches. The past two years have been tough on our community, and I want to share positive, uplifting, and bright art to hopefully put a smile on people's faces.

During the holidays, I hosted a Christmas painting class and had a Pop-Up event at Blossom Hill with one of my community mentors, Jennifer Moore, where I raised over $1,000 for the Open Door Home for Christmas gifts.

Through the Darlington Connects program, I was able to connect with alumni artist Laura Deems ('12), who has inspired me to become a better artist.

Most recently, I have partnered with another small business to put my mascot-inspired art on tees and hoodies.

I am currently working on a website for my business, and I am planning to open an Etsy shop.

Recently, Julia Thomas ('07) and Julie Lucas ('97) from Darlington's Advancement Office, asked me to create the giveaway sticker for this year’s Giving Day on Feb. 10. I was honored to have the opportunity to contribute my art to this important event, and I encourage you to make a Darlington donation on or before Feb. 10 to receive my swan sticker!
