Welcome to Episode 27 of The Darlington Podcast! 

In this episode, Scott Greene, director of the Teaching & Learning Center, talks with Learning Specialists Justin Bruce and Kristen Bell about their work with students. Together, they share some of the organization, time management, and study strategies they use to help students who have executive function issues to be successful at Darlington and beyond.

Scott Greene has been the director of the Teaching and Learning Center since 2017 and has nearly 30 years of experience in education. He holds a B.S. in Business Management from The University of North Carolina - Asheville, an M.A.Ed. in Special Education from Western Carolina University, and Orton Gillingham Certification from Carolina Day School's Key Learning Center in Asheville, N.C. Greene has served previously as assistant headmaster, director of education, assistant head of middle school, and principal in independent schools throughout the South and Northeast. 

Justin Bruce has served as a learning specialist at the Upper School since 2016 and has over a decade of experience in education. He holds a B.S. in Collaborative Special Education from Auburn University, a Masters in Special Education Adaptive Curriculum from the University of West Georgia and an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University. 

Kristen Bell has served as a middle grades learning specialist since 2017 and has over 20 years of experience in education. She holds a B.S. in Middle Grades English from Shorter College, a master’s degree in reading from Walden University, and certification in Special Education.

Founded in 2006, Darlington School’s Glenn Teaching and Learning Center provides individualized academic support to students pre-K to 12 with identified learning differences. Our learning specialists work directly with students in the Center and in the classroom to help them achieve academic success.
