Boarding #SeniorSpotlight: Audrey Montgomery

Tannika King | April 29, 2021 | 229 views

A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

In this #SeniorSpotlight, get to know Audrey Montgomery, a two-year boarding student from Fulton, Md., who loves the theater program.

What's your favorite show to binge on Netflix?
“That 70s Show” or “CSI: Miami”

What house are you a member of?
Regester House

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Theater, Concert Choir

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
I don’t but Coach Becks is awesome!

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?
I enjoyed painting several set pieces and costumes for our past shows. It's pretty awesome to see your hard work come to life.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The Black Box Theater. It holds so many memories from when we were practicing or just hanging out and enjoying each other's time.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Evans. He was an amazing advisor and always made sure to check up on you. He kept me straight. I'm thankful I had someone that mentored me who got onto me when I was out of line.

What's your favorite thing about Darlington?
I love the diversity of the boarding students and how much you can learn from them by being in this environment.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
I've met people here that have stuck with me through thick and thin and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I've felt a sense of belonging that I hadn't found in any other school I'd been to.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I've learned to come out of my shell and take on things I normally wouldn't do. I didn't even want to go to college a couple years ago. I'm a more confident person that knows how to set goals to better myself.

Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
I'm committing to the College of Charleston to eventually become a psychiatrist.
