My Senior Ventures project involves informing individuals about depression and anxiety in the blog I'm in the process of creating called Happiness if for U . This blog is a work in progress, and I am not quite ready to share it with the community. The main topics available in the blog include the science behind the brain, depression, anxiety, and the effects of COVID19 on our well being. The blog will also include a spotlight feature of individuals known for demonstrating kindness in the Darlington community. I hope to teach others how important it is to always show empathy and kindness to everyone because you never know someone's entire story and what they are dealing with each day.
Most of my project has involved completing research. I am currently writing nine blogs to include on my personal blog site. My mentors, Mrs. Holst and Mrs. Smyly, have been an amazing resource for me throughout this process. I am working with Mrs. Smyly on writing and publishing my blog, and Mrs. Holst has assisted me with researching a variety of topics and narrowing the focus on a few points that will assist the Darlington community with this important topic.
Recently, the Senior Ventures class created signs of affirmations to be displayed throughout the Upper School and Thatcher Hall reminding everyone they are loved and they matter. This has been a difficult year for everyone, and too often I think we all dwell on what is out of our control. As Vivian Greene explained, "Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning how to dance in the rain." We cannot control the virus, but we can control how we react to it. If you ever feel down, always remember, You Matter!
