A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

In this #SeniorSpotlight get to know Rayhaan Dharsey, a three-year boarding student from Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and member of the Soccer Academy.

When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?

“American Teen” by Khalid or “We’re All in This Together” from High School Musical

What's your favorite show to binge on Netflix?

“Avatar: The Last Airbender” or “Stranger Things”

What house are you a member of?

Moser House

What are you involved in at Darlington?

Moser House Dorm Leader, Soccer Academy

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?

Coach Chad, our Soccer Academy director, because he has done this process for a while and understands what we go through. He is a great guy and has great advice.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?

I would have to say The Growl as it’s a nice chill spot close to the lake and very central. I also like the Old Gym because it has an open gym and a training field.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?

Mr. Shorey because he doesn’t just lecture about math; he teaches you how to apply it. He is so helpful and I understand his ways of teaching.

What's your favorite thing about Darlington?

The close community and high level of trust. Also, the campus size. It gives a warm feeling because there is something to do for everyone.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.

RUMPUS as it’s quite unifying and brings a high level of school spirit. (RUMPUS is an annual, weekend-long competition between all of the dorms.) Also, snow everywhere during February and going outside and having a snowball fight with all my dorm friends.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?

I have become more independent and gained a lot of trust by living with new people every year. I’ve also grown into a leader and become more responsible.

Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?

I recently signed to play soccer at Lee’s McCrae College. My dream job would involve coaching soccer, such as a sports manager and/or personal trainer.
