Important Darlington Upper School Update

Dear Darlington Upper School families,

We write to you today to share updates and guidelines in order for us to return to school safely. Faculty and staff at school continue to prepare our campus, policies, practices, and instructional methods to promote a healthy, safe, and vibrant learning environment for everyone. Please know that the information below is not comprehensive as we continue to finalize plans and strategies for the opening of school and beyond.

Just a reminder, ONLINE REGISTRATION IS OPEN! Please upload your child’s completed Medical Form and Physical, current Immunization record, and proof of medical insurance through the Registration Parent Portal. If you have specific questions regarding the registration process, academics, or our Health Center please contact:

Upper School Protocols and Procedures were created with the guidance by recommendations from the Center for Disease Control, the Georgia Department of Health, and the Georgia Department of Education.

Students in our residential community will have a need for more guidelines as it relates to their time in a residential house as operations beyond the academic day. Please click here for more specific guidelines for residential students. Please note that day students will have limited access to the residential facilities. This is to prevent heavy traffic in and out of residential facilities where students will have different face covering requirements.

A safe reopening in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic will require the full commitment of every member of our community. We expect our faculty, staff and parents to lead by example, modeling proper behavior and good judgement for the children in our care. We understand that there are risks involved in reopening and that it may be impossible to prevent a case of COVID-19, but we can help prevent its spread by closely monitoring the situation and abiding by certain protocols.

Details and a schedule for student orientation on Saturday, August 15, are still being finalized. This orientation will be for ninth-grade students and new students entering grades 10-12 only. We will share those plans as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience during this time. We know that it is a challenge for everyone as we all work to move forward to reopening school in the safest way possible. As always, if you have any questions please reach out to us. We want to support you as best we can during this time. Thank you and have a good rest of your week.

Best,

Chad Woods
