This year our appeals for The Darlington Fund were written by members of The Darlington Fund cabinet. Our Parent of Alumni Chair is Lynn Whatley. Mr. Whatley was a day student at Darlington and graduated in 1967 and attended Leadership Darlington in 2015. His two sons, Stephen and Peter, both attended Darlington. Stephen graduated in 2002 and attended Leadership Darlington in 2018; Peter graduated in 2006. Mr. Whatley previously served on the Board of Trustees and as an annual fund volunteer. He and his wife, Vicki, reside in Rome and he is the Senior Vice President of Investments for Synovus. Enjoy Lynn’s “Why I Give” featured in a letter to other parents of alumni this fall below:
"My parents were public school teachers and administrators, so they knew the value of a good education. They sacrificed to send me to Darlington, even though they believed in the public schools. When my own sons came along, there was never any doubt they would also be Tigers. They are now both enjoying successful professional careers that Darlington most certainly helped prepare them for. I hope my new grandson will also be able to enjoy the advantages that I believe are unique to Darlington." - Lynn Whatley ('67, LD '15)
