Get to Know: Chris Eberhart

Playful, entertaining, and absolutely informative, our Get to Know series allows the personalities of the faculty and staff who make up the Darlington Community shine. 

Chris has taught math at Darlington since 2012 and also serves as Pre-K to 8 athletic coordinator and head Middle School baseball and volleyball coach. He holds an M.B.A. from Berry College and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Florida Atlantic University, where he played Division 1 baseball. Prior to Darlington, Chris taught and coached baseball, basketball, football and volleyball at the middle and high school levels. He also spent one year playing professional baseball for the Florence Freedom in Kentucky. He lives in Rome with his wife, Karen, and sons, Luke and Nathan.

How long have you worked at Darlington? 
Five years

Where did you grow up? 
Palm Beach, Fla., specifically the Lake Worth and Boynton Beach area.

Tell us a little about your family: 
I have an amazing wife, Karen, 2 kids, Luke (3) and Nathan (8 months), and our black lab Clutch. 

Why did you choose Darlington? 
The family atmosphere, the flexibility within the curriculum to do what is best for the students, and access to professional development.

Your seven word philosophy on education is…
Learning is real, engaging, challenging, and exciting.

What makes a good teacher? 
Passion for your subject, love of your students, the ability to engage outside of the classroom.

What music is playing in your car? 
Christian contemporary, praise and worship, or country

Who was your favorite teacher (and why)? 
Mr. Dupere, my sixth grade math teacher. He made math challenging and fun.

My favorite movie is…
“Home Alone”

What makes a good student? 
Someone that just wants to learn.

My favorite trip was…
My annual trip to Camp-of-the-Woods in Speculator, NY. It is a Christian resort in the middle of the Adirondack mountains that host speakers like Ravi Zacharias, Charles Zimmerman, Tony Evans, and much more.

If I could travel anywhere it would be…
Australia

I hate coffee, but I would do breakfast with Joe Torre, George Washington, Isaac Newton, and Abraham Lincoln.

Currently my hobby is playing with my kids. When I have time, I like to play golf, bowl, run, go to the gym, and go to the aquarium and zoo with my kids and wife.
