Teaching
10-Month Full-Time
Responsibilities:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
Prepare hands-on lessons and appropriate activities in a laboratory-based science class
Collaborates to integrate curriculum with math teachers
Covers content and aligns scope and sequence with Science Department teachers
Attends faculty meetings, planning meetings, parent conferences, etc.
Takes initiative for personal and professional staff development
Willing to commit to additional responsibilities in regards to extracurricular activities, clubs, and/or coaching
Keep online grade book and Coursework Page up-to-date; communicates appropriately with students and parents about progress
Collaborates with the Learning Center to support student needs
Qualifications:
Willingness to model the distinct mission of Darlington School
Ability and willingness to participate in school life outside the classroom (sponsoring clubs, etc.)
Experienced in developing lessons and units of study in Life Science
A genuine love of middle school age students and a desire to work with all types of learners
Ability and willingness to work as a team player
Comfort with on-going improvement and change that has the potential to enhance student achievement
Skilled in Inquiry-based lessons and questioning
Experienced in introducing scientific method and implementing dissection labs
Proficient in the use of technology, especially knowledge of Google classroom
