Eddie Guth

Director of Athletics

Eddie has served as athletic director since 2015. He holds a B.A. in Communications from Rhodes College and has over 30 years of experience in independent school education and athletics. Eddie is no stranger to Darlington, having taught and coached here from 1984 to 1994. During this time, he held numerous roles, including assistant athletic director, defensive coordinator for varsity football, head girls’ track coach (winning state championships in 1993 and 1994), strength and speed development coach, director of Camp Darlington, master of dormitories, chairman of the Discipline Committee, Middle School English and P.E. teacher, and Upper School public speaking teacher. Prior to his return to Darlington, Eddie was athletic director and head football coach at Randolph School in Huntsville, Ala. He is married to Virginia (Johnson) Guth (’79), first-grade teaching assistant.

Flik First Guest Chef: Eddie Guth, Athletic Director

Coach Guth gave us a southern meal from the heart. He organized three stations celebrating food that speaks to his life lived in Alabama and Georgia. One station celebrated southern seafood featuring fried catfish and shrimp and grits. Another station celebrated his love of bbq with pulled pork and Brunswick stew. The last station gave a feel of meat and three featuring fried chicken, greens, butterbeans, and cast-iron skillet cornbread. It was all wrapped up with some banana pudding. A great meal from a great family. Thanks Coach Guth and Mrs. Guth!!!
