Congratulations to the following young band members who were selected to participate in GMEA's District VII Clinic Honors Band at Hammond Creek Middle School in Dalton, Ga., on May 4:
From the 5th Grade Band - Emma Grioni on trombone, Kenzo Smith on alto saxophone, J'nae Kinnebrew on alto saxophone, Slade Smith on trumpet
From the Middle School Band - Landon Bogue on trombone, Xander Bickers on trumpet, and Wesley Stitt on trumpet
They spent the entire day rehearsing with great guest conductors, working in sectionals, learning better technique on their instruments, listening to a special performance, and mastering several new band parts. This particular honors band was for younger leaders in the band program, and our seven Darlington band members did a fantastic job representing our school. They held up their parts very well and were strong members of their sections. The Clinic Honors Bands presented a concert in the evening after only practicing the music one day. These students worked hard to make this happen!
We are so proud of Xander, Wesley, Landon, J'nae, Kenzo, Emma, and Slade for taking some Tiger Spirit to this festival. Wait to go, musicians!
